PRIVACY
Privacy information for the catalogue launch.
This policy describes the catalogue, comparison, information pages and the optional first-party analytics included in this release. It does not add advertising pixels or third-party analytics.
Search and browsing
Catalogue searches use query parameters in the page URL. Instant suggestions fetch a compact catalogue identity index from SolarDrawing and filter it in the browser. The analytics event store does not save exact search text; when analytics is enabled it records only that a search/filter was used and which filter categories were active.
First-party analytics
First-party analytics are disabled by default in the packaged release and must be intentionally enabled by the owner after the deployment-region privacy decision. When enabled, SolarDrawing records bounded server-observed catalogue page views, search/filter use, valid/invalid comparison use, approximate traffic-source categories, bot/unknown classification and selected outbound official-source clicks. These records are used to understand catalogue use and collection health.
For human-classified traffic, SolarDrawing uses a random anonymous browser identifier (default lifetime 30 days) and a shorter visit identifier (default 30 minutes). The stored values are one-way keyed hashes; the raw cookie values are not stored in analytics rows. Estimated unique visitors are therefore estimates, not identified people. Bot detection is imperfect.
The analytics event store does not intentionally store full IP addresses, full user-agent strings, email addresses, exact search queries, session cookies, signed URLs, detailed design coordinates or research manifests. External referrers are reduced to a source category and, where useful, a bounded hostname rather than a full referring URL. Admin/staff browsing is excluded where the admin exclusion cookie is present.
Retention
Default raw analytics retention is 30 days. A scheduled retention job summarizes older rows into anonymous daily headline counts before deleting the raw visitor events. Those daily aggregate counts are kept for up to 395 days by default. Both periods are deployment configuration and should be reviewed before launch. Application-error dashboard rows follow the raw retention window. If collection is unavailable, public catalogue pages continue to work and the admin dashboard reports collection-health failure instead of presenting missing traffic as zero.
Analytics choice
Optional analytics stays off unless you choose “Allow analytics” through “Analytics preference” in the footer. This choice is not shown as a popup on arrival. You can decline or change your choice at any time. Declining stops future optional collection; previously collected anonymous records follow the retention schedule above. Essential hosting/security logs are separate from optional catalogue analytics.
Server and infrastructure logs
Web hosting, reverse proxies or security infrastructure may separately record ordinary request information such as requested URLs, timestamps, network addresses, user-agent information and errors. Those infrastructure logs are outside the catalogue analytics event table. Final provider retention and operational access must be confirmed during deployment.
Email contact
The Contact page uses mailto: links rather than a collecting web form. If you choose to email SolarDrawing, your email service and the receiving mailbox provider will process the message.
External manufacturer links
Product pages link to manufacturer sources. Following an external link takes you to another operator with its own privacy practices.
